The Musical Daens take you back to Aalst in 1888.
The population worked there under appalling conditions at the textile factory.
People are being abused and exploited by rich factory directors.
Pastor Adolf Daens, Played by Peter van de Velde. came back to his birthplace after a conflict
with Bisschop Stillemans, played by Jo de Meyere.
Adolf Daens moves in by his brother Pieter Daens, played by Jan Schepens.
The local industrialist, played by Manou Kersting, fired the half of his workers
and got endorsed by the chairman of the Catholique church.
Adolf Daens resistance against the abuses in the textile factory.
In his fight against this, Daens got his back from Nette Scholliers, played by Free Souffriau.
She is just 17 years old but she is the breadwinner of her family.
Also the liberals and the socialists are choosing the side of the population.
One of the socialists is Jan de Meeter, Played by Jelle Cleymans.
In the middle of the social unrest and the harsh living conditions,
results in a forbidden love between a Catholic girl and a socialist.
